US FCC certification

I. Introduction to FCC Certification
FCC stands for the Federal Communications Commission. To ensure the safety of radio and wire communication products related to life and property, radio application products, communication products, and digital products are required to obtain FCC approval to enter the US market. FCC certification is a mandatory certification in the US regarding electromagnetic compatibility and frequency.

II. There are mainly 2 ways for FCC certification:
(I) FCC SDoC Supplier's Declaration of Conformity
(II) FCC Certification ID

III. FCC Certified Product Types
(I) FCC SDoC: Applicable to general electronic products, i.e., products without wireless functions, such monitors, lighting fixtures, power supplies, household appliances, etc.
(II) FCC ID: Wireless products, such as Bluetooth products, tablets, wireless keyboards, wireless mice, readers, wireless transceivers, wireless walkie-talkies, wireless microphones, remote controls, wireless network devices, wireless video transmission systems and other low-power wireless products,2G mobile phones, 3G mobile phones, 3.5G mobile phones, DECT mobile phones (1.8G, 1.9G bands), walkie-talkies, etc.

(I) FCC SDoC
Add a local US agent's Declaration of Conformity; the FCC logo can be chosen be marked or not marked.
(II) FCC ID
Add the FCC ID number and statement to the label.

VIII.Product Certification Process
1. Certification Application and Acceptance
Submission of application materials: Product technical data (circuit diagrams, BOM, manuals), key component, and existing certification certificates.
Acceptance review: GTS reviews the materials; once complete and compliant, an acceptance notice is issued and the certification agreement is signed.

2. Testing
Sample submission: The enterprise prepares qualified samples (usually 2-3 units) as required by the certification body and sends them to the GTS laboratory; specific sample requirements are with the laboratory.
Full testing: The laboratory conducts standard testing based on the corresponding national standards for the product (such as electrical safety, EMC electromagnetic compatibility, wireless performance, etc and issues a type test report.
Rectification and retesting: If the test fails, the enterprise must rectify the product and resubmit samples for retesting until the test passes

3. Evaluation of Certification Results and Issuance of Certificate
